in my backpacking days in 2004, on bondi beach, i met a man named sd hyde. he spray-painted me a really cool palm tree/aviator sunglasses graphic on canvas. a very creative soul, funny and sweet, sd was one of the best dudes i met in my travels. anyway, he lives in berlin these days, making films. he just posted a link to the trailer for his new movie, i reckon it looks pretty sweet :)

movember!

a great little friend of mine is having his birthday party on the night of my favourite fundraiser gala: movember. sad to be missing it, but happy to be celebrating the milestone with our good friend G.

last year, onstage, top 3! that's R and i in our matching orange and purple cheetah suits and our other flatmate H in the giraffe suit (complete with handcrafted giraffe head on a stick). pretty cool that we made the cut in the :: movember 2008 slide show :: .

The Melbourne Edition.

My flatmate R bought me this book last year called Stuff White People Like. It basically just points out how white people (the book was primarily written about North Americans) all tended to have the same hobbies, likes and dislikes (i.e. to study abroad in Australia, love Wes Anderson movies, when a bad political decision is made they threaten to move to Canada (if from the US) or to Europe (if from Canada) etc.).

Well, today TH sent me a great little link... all those interested in learning a bit about what White People in Melbourne Like should check out this dude's :: blog :: . The top 5 categories that I fit into on there are: Northcote (I live there), Moroccan Soup Bar (my house gets take-away from there every Sunday night without fail), Hating on Sydney (sorry, but compared to Melb, Syd is pretty lame), Churros (San Churros on Brunswick St. in Fitzroy is delicious, admit it) and Dropping the 'North' from my suburb name (not so much now, because I don't think people would know where 'cote' was, but admittedly when I lived in Fitzroy (North), it was easier... and slightly cooler I guess, to say "oh I live in Fitzroy, just at the corner of Brunswick Street and Alexandra Parade...").

Anyway, Melburnians should enjoy this, but any of you coming to visit here one day might find this an interesting insight into the culture in this wonderful city... it's all pretty true.
