sorry for the linkage.

it has been pointed out to me by one of my (only) followers that i have been overloading this little online diary with links. this person did confess to clicking most of them, so at least they are somewhat interesting links, but i thought i should say a big 'i'm sorry!' to all of ya'll who stop by occasionally. it really is a matter of me being lazy, or i've been sent funny things i want to share or i just have a need to pass on things that i feel like i found out about too late or something.

anyway, i could just start writing about my day to day...

today:

7 am - alarm goes off. snooze button.

7:07 am - alarm goes off. snooze button.

7:14 am - alarm goes off. snooze button.

7:21 am - alarm goes off. i accept the fact that i am not going to 'get up early and go for a run' today. reset alarm for 8:30 am.

8:30 am - alarm goes off. receive a text from M saying he'd pick me up for uni at 9:30 am. i know this means he will be here at 9:45 am. snooze button.

8:37 am - alarm goes off. i sneak one toe out of bed. it's cold in my room. i contemplate staying under the covers a little longer, and end up convincing myself that it is okay if i stay in bed as long as i am 'planning' what i will do once i get out of bed ("first, go shower. then make a toast. and a coffee. mmm, coffee. with chocolate powder in it. mmmm mocha. etc."). realise that once i get up, i get a mocha. so i get out of bed. turn off my alarm.

8:40 am to 9:37 am - go on the internet, check email, print out notes for class. realise if i don't make a toast soon, i won't have a break to eat until 2 pm. make a toast and coffee with chocolate powder. M honks the horn out front, i run out of the house, forgetting to pack a very vital piece of equipment - my laptop charger. this completely defeats the purpose of me bringing my laptop to school since it has a battery life of about 17 minutes on a good day (when i turn down the screen brightness to conserve energy).

10 am to 2 pm - class.

2 pm to 2:30 pm - participate as a test subject for a psychology major who was researching the brain's capacity to process 'complex sentences' for his thesis. i am lead into a small room, sat down at a computer and told to read these really confusing sentences like "the gymnast who pictured the trainer running into a wall while drinking a banana-smoothie was very nervous about her competition next monday" or "the defense lawyer who accidentally spilled water on the judge's lap turned to yell at the prosecution for failing to acquire the required documentation before the trial". then, intermittently, a question pops up "did the judge yell at the prosecution?" and i have to press 'y' or 'n'. it isn't too bad in the beginning, but my poor brain gets very tired after 15 minutes of sentences.

2:30 pm to 4 pm - rent out an audio/video room with some friends under the guise of needing to watch VHS tapes about carbon emissions so that we could do prep work for our last tutorial of the day.

4 pm to 6 pm - class

6 pm to 6:30 pm - M drives me home.

6:30pm to 7:30pm - dinner (left-over cannelloni that has lasted me for three dinners now) and some 'lounging'. the tv tells me that the most viewed youtube clip at the moment is called 'battle at kruger' and that there is a new documentary out about it. i would put the link up here for you, but that would be contrary to the purpose of this post. sorry!

7:30 pm to 10:45 pm (now) - send an email to my mom thanking her for the nice care-package she sent me, read an article called the Methods of Social Control Through Law for a mid-semester assessment due next week and take some notes.

now, i wait to have a quick goodnight chat with T and get to sleep before midnight (fingers crossed).

sooooo.... is this better than embedding youtube clips? or should i do a better job of searching the interweb for 'new' and 'cool' stuffs!!! (i'm bad at that)

MY dinner!

now before some of you point your finger at the screen and cry 'hypocrite!' (since i tend to poke fun at :: Age 32 :: for his daily dinner photojournalism... all in good fun!), i am showing you this evening's grocery list because it is accompanied by a cute story of human kindness and my hierarchy of needs.

i had $8.20 in my wallet, so my shopping was done strategically. the 750ml of Cooper's Pale was a steal at $5.99! anyway, got to the counter and the girl rang up my total. turns out my three items came to $8.66 (in Australia there are no pennies, so it was actually $8.70!). payday is tomorrow, so i had to make an executive decision: " uhhh, looks like the onion has got to go." i told the cashier. she looked at me with pity and asked how much i had. when i told her i was 50 cents short, a guy behind me offered to spot me the change. he was wearing a racing bike helmet and a sweatshirt bearing this:


in the end, the kindly cashier let me off the hook. i thanked her profusely while packing up my groceries and as i walked out, bike helmet/nirvana shirt guy said "i really like that the beer took precedence over the food." i turned and said "always, mate. always."

i have been meaning to put this up since my trip. i met Lou, one of T's close friends from Melb, but who was originally from and now lives back in sweden. she was super lovely and good fun. one night, in stockholm, we had a youtube clip viewing party on a projector at J and L's place. Lou directed us to this series of clips... turns out it was her and a friend and i pretty much think this is one of the most under-appreciated pieces of genius on the internet. and yes! it is a 5 part series!!!

also, sorry about the poor timing (news that MJ's death was likely homicide...), but i only remembered to do this because of the newspaper headlines yesterday :(

K invited me to be one of his + 2s for :: M-e-r-e-d-i-t-h:: . this annual festival is epic; famous for its amazing vibe, classy crowd and great musical taste. it's in mid-december so you pray for mid-30 temps, will likely get a down-pour or two... but whatever the weather, this promises to be the best fest in the...east?

Have been a lover of the BoH for awhile now, and when I get on a kick of listening to them, it is so hard to stop. Also, sad story - they just played in my soon to be hometown (Göteborg, Sweden) at the Way out West festival along with my one true musical crush, Bon Iver (as opposed to my cinematic crushes, there are two of those: Jason Schwartzman and Jason Segel. Woah, never noticed they are both Jasons before!).

public enemies. one hundred thumbs down.

I like J Depp as much as the next girl (What's Eating Gilbert Grape...Edward Scissor Hands.. too many goodies to list!), but dear lord. Public Enemies was so slow, so awkward, so utterly unimpressive that TS and I walked out. 45 minutes in, after his fourth declaration of love to the French girl he rescues from a coat-check job, Depp just started getting on my nerves. TS turned to me and I said "I don't care about this movie at all.", TS said, "Bored."

We left the theatre, and I imagine that a few of the other audience members were considering following us out. The only things I enjoyed about this movie night were the previews (Funny People and 500 Days of Summer are finally coming to Aussie theatres in September!)and of course the company (as always, TS!).

To make matters worse, M tells me on Monday that District 9 was wicked. This was the option TS had suggested before I insisted on seeing PE. This proves two things: I really am the worst movie-chooser ever (something that should have been clear to me after the time I forced a room full of boys to watch Marie Antoinette)and also, maybe I should ease up on my Sci-Fi boycott.
